I can name maybe 10 stones songs I like, let's see..

    1. Paint it Black
    2. Ruby Tuesday
    3. Angie
    4. Sympathy for the Devil
    5. Under my thumb
    6. Start me up
    7. Wild Horses
    8. Play with fire
    9. As tears go by
    10. 19th nervous breakdown

If that had been their first and only album they'd be the greatest band in the history of the world, ever. But if you're around for 50 years you're going to write a whole load more shite than good songs. If they'd packed it in mid-eighties I'd have a lot more respect for them.

Government (noun) Latin: Govern (control) Mente (mind) = Mind Control, Have a nice day.

Have to disagree, Exile on Mainstreet is an amazing album, Beggars Banquet, Let it Bleed - all classics. The stuff they did in the early 70s was great.

Yeah, about the only song of theirs i would class as amazing though.

100% agree with hoopymo, distinctly average band on the whole imo.

I'm more of a sentimental fan of Aerosmith. They were my first rock CD when i was 11 and listened to them exclusively for years so i fuckin love em regardless if they are that rocking or not in the grand scheme if you know what i mean.

And the stones are not amazing by any stretch as far as i'm concerned. Monotenous, pretentious, frankly boring tunes by 4 greedy old wankers. Actually, the rolling stones these days are pretty much the antithesis of rock n roll.

Beggar's Banquet and Aftermath are problably in my top 20 albums of all time. The first batch to be fair was all the go at the time as all the top bands around London were into the black american blues.

I also rate Let it bleed.

they are now but listen to their albums from 68-74 and tell me they're not amazing and progressive. when you listen to music put in in context of what was around at the time, they were incredibly progressive at the time and used instruments (mainly from eastern music) that other bands didn't. certainly 100 times more progressive than aeroshit

My mate Paddy has force fed me all their best shit (he's a fucking uber fan, seen them all over the world). Doesn't do anything for me. I find most of there songs just bland, they may have been great by default in comparison back in the dark ages, but i find there music just kinda boring.

I don't think much of them. Then again, I also dislike Pink Floyd, The Who, The Beatles...

Okay they aren't amazing and progressive.

Listen everything they did was done b the beatles too, so they weren't exactly groundbreaking, oh and if they did more songs that were like paint it black they would have been a much better band.

in your opinion, in mine in comparison to music at the time they were light years ahead. the beatles sound fuck all like let the stones post 1968. i'd admit they were trying to emulate them in their early stuff but the stones were rock and roll, the beatles were pop. the stones, especially on let it bleed, had an almost sinister edge to them, the beatles were brilliant but nice
