    Default Cervi close to signing

Celtic are set to complete the capture of goalkeeper Dominic Cervi this week while they have not given up hope of signing midfielder James McCarthy.

Hamilton rejected an offer from their Scottish Premier League rivals last week for 18-year-old McCarthy, who is attracting interest from English clubs.

USA Under-23 international Cervi impressed while on trial at Celtic.

His move has been delayed since September but he is now due in Glasgow after receiving an Italian passport.

The University of Tulsa graduate rejected the chance to sign a contract with Major League Soccer after being selected by Chicago Fire.

Cervi is likely to remain an understudy to Artur Boruc, should the Pole remain with the Scottish champions next season, and the present number one's countryman, Lukasz Zaluska, who has signed a pre-contract agreement to join the Glasgow club next season.

His arrival will call into question the future at Celtic of present second choice Mark Brown.

My thoughts exactly. Shame his form has dropped since last season ie, Euro 2008.
